Not sure which line you need

Start from what the land is doing

Water is the problem

If the yard holds water or the crawlspace gets wet, the fix is usually grade, drainage or both. Regrading changes which way the surface falls; a french drain or swale catches what the grade cannot move on its own. We look at where the water comes from before deciding which.

Land Grading · Drainage Solutions

A slope will not stay put

A bank that sheds soil every storm needs cover first: silt fence at the bottom, straw and seed on the face. A bank that is actually moving, or one too steep to grade back, needs a wall built to hold it, with drainage behind it.

Erosion Control · Retaining Walls & Land Stabilization

There is something in the way

A single tree is tree removal. An overgrown corner where a shop will go is site clearing. Acres of woods that have to become a pasture or a subdivision are land clearing. An old house on the lot is demolition, and it comes before all of them.

Choosing the right service

What if I do not know which service my land needs?

Pick “Not sure yet” on the form and describe the land: what is on it, where the water goes, what you want there. Most people describe a problem, not a service name, and sorting out which of the twelve it takes is part of walking the property for the estimate.

Should drainage go in before or after grading?

The plan for both should be made together, then the rough grade usually comes first, the drains and pipes next, and the finish grade last over the top. Laying a drain into ground that is about to be regraded means digging it up again.

Can one contractor clear, grade and drain the same lot?

Yes, and it saves the handoffs. We do all twelve services on this page, so the lot does not wait between a clearing crew, a grading crew and a drainage crew, and nothing one does gets undone by the next.

What does site work include on a new build?

Usually clearing, any demolition, the building pad and driveway cut, utility trenches, rough and finish grading, drainage and erosion control. Which of those a lot needs depends on what is on it now and what the plans call for.
